Undergraduate Business Admissions Explained
The School of Business is the home to three bachelor of science programs: Business Administration, Actuarial Science, and Business Analytics.
IMPORTANT: The admission requirements are different for the three programs.
Business Administration Major / Pre-Business
First-time freshman applicants
Apply to UCR as a Pre-Business major under the UCR College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS). Pre-Business majors are officially admitted to the Business Administration major in the School of Business once lower division admission criteria are met, generally between the second and third year.
Step 1: Apply to UCR through the University of California application
Step 2: In the application, locate Pre-Business under the UCR College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS). IMPORTANT: On the application, Pre-Business is not located under the UCR School of Business.
Step 3: Submit your application
Transfer applicants
Apply to UCR as a Business Administration major under the UCR School of Business.
Step 1: Apply to UCR through the University of California application
Step 2: In the application, locate UCR Business Administration major under the UCR School of Business

Actuarial Science and
Business Analytics
First-time freshman applicants
Apply to UCR as an Actuarial Science major or Business Analytics major under the UCR School of Business.
IMPORTANT: Actuarial Science and Business Analytics majors are not the same as the Business Administration/Pre-Business major (see left column).
Step 1: Apply to UCR through the University of California application
Step 2: In the application, locate Actuarial Science or Business Analytics under the UCR School of Business
Step 3: Submit your application
Transfer applicants
Apply to UCR as an Actuarial Science major under the UCR School of Business. Transfers will be admitted in Fall of each year.
IMPORTANT: Actuarial Science and Business Analytics majors are not the same as the Business Administration/Pre-Business major. See left column for information on admissions to the Business Administration/Pre-Business major.
