UCR Business Professor Teaches in China on the U.S.-China Trade Relationship
In late December 2018, Dr. Sean Jasso was invited on a whirlwind lecture tour in China on the timely topic of trade between the United States and China. The host universities included Shanghai Maritime University’s School of Management, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, Fudan University’s Center for American Studies, and Xiamen University’s School of Management and School of Economics.
The talk entitled, The United States and China – A Dynamic Relationship: An American Perspective on Trade, Investment and Competition, provided undergraduates, graduates and faculty a comprehensive historical analysis of the forty-year trade relationship, emphasizing the evolution of competitive advantages, current and future investment opportunities, and the emerging political and economic risks. Additional focus included an assessment of the changes in each country’s standard of living with a close examination of the future of industrial competition, concluding with discussions on the current trade negotiations with the impending March 2019 deadline.
